Earlier, the environment ministry of Korea formulated the "first phase of product recycling evaluation plan (2018-2020)" in accordance with the basic law on resource recycling, which is expected to increase the use of colorless cosmetics and beverage bottles significantly from next year. The agreement is expected to be implemented from June 2018 until the target is achieved. The usage rate of colorless plastic bottles such as cosmetics and beverage products is expected to exceed 63.5 percent in 2016 to 85.1 percent in 2018.
It is reported that the 19 enterprises that have signed the agreement as compulsory recycling manufacturers (whichever is in 2016) account for 55% of the total output of plastic bottles in South Korea (260,000 tons).The companies involved in the deal include cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, dairy products and beverages. Among them, cosmetics, as a large number of consumer products of bottle containers, bear the brunt. According to the agreement, by 2019, these enterprises will improve the material and structure of the packaging according to different product categories. Cosmetics, mineral water and other products will voluntarily use colorless transparent plastic bottles for recycling.In addition, in addition to beer and other types of products, to ensure the quality of products, when necessary enterprises can use limited brown or green plastic bottles.
