Amore and LG are leading efforts to increase the use of colorless transparent plastic bottles for Korean cosmeticsSouth Korea's environment ministry has signed a "voluntary recycling simple packaging agreement" with 19 South Korean companies in Seoul to promote recycling of resources and reduce environmental pollution from packaging materials.
Earlier, the environment ministry of Korea formulated the "first phase of product recycling evaluation plan (2018-2020)" in accordance with the basic law on resource recycling, which is expected to increase the use of colorless cosmetics and beverage bottles significantly from next year. The agreement is expected to be implemented from June 2018 until the target is achieved. The usage rate of colorless plastic bottles such as cosmetics and beverage products is expected to exceed 63.5 percent in 2016 to 85.1 percent in 2018.
It is reported that the 19 enterprises that have signed the agreement as compulsory recycling manufacturers (whichever is in 2016) account for 55% of the total output of plastic bottles in South Korea (260,000 tons). The companies involved in the deal include cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, dairy products and beverages. Among them, cosmetics, as a large number of consumer products of bottle containers, bear the brunt. Korean cosmetics companies amorepacific, LG, health and respect industries have all signed the agreement.
Cosmetic Packaging DesignAccording to the agreement, by 2019, these enterprises will improve the material and structure of the packaging according to different product categories. Cosmetics, mineral water and other products will voluntarily use colorless transparent plastic bottles for recycling. In addition, in addition to beer and other types of products, to ensure the quality of products, when necessary enterprises can use limited brown or green plastic bottles.
In addition to color, paper labels that increase recycling costs for plastic bottles will also be restricted. By 2020, non-recyclable materials such as PVC will also be replaced by recycled plastic containers and other materials. Every year, the companies that sign the agreement will make detailed plans to actively explore the recyclable materials and structures according to the characteristics of different products.
In the extremely simple, natural wind prevails today, the transparent plastic bottle that takes simple route not only can let consumer see clearly the content inside container, still have environmental protection effect, or will get a lot of consumer support.
Li daoyang, general manager of guangzhou liji packaging co., told reporters: "the promotion of colorless transparent packaging, increased the convenience of plastic recycling.Colored plastic bottles are relatively inefficient to recycle and their use is limited. In addition, in the production process, colorless transparent products do not need coloring, production is more convenient.
When it comes to plastic bottles, people immediately associate them with words like "environment" and "pollution".It is true that plastic products have been a difficult problem for the environment for a long time. Cosmetics, as a fast - moving consumer goods, are undoubtedly a big source of plastic bottle production. In order to attract consumers' attention, many brands choose to start from product packaging, and various kinds of plastic bottles are also created. But many companies are moving towards environmental protection, such as unilever and procter & gamble. More environmentally friendly "Marine plastics" and "recycled plastics" have been developed.
The reporter reads data to learn, make transparent and colorless cosmetic plastic bottle to use PET plastic commonly, environmental protection is nontoxic, but the price is higher than other material slightly. And coloured plastic USES plastic colouring agent commonly "chromatic masterbatch" to carry on colorization to plastic, as the most common colorization method at present, chromatic masterbatch when giving product more colour, also can affect plastic property at the same time, increase the cost of product.
Currently, only 14 percent of plastic packaging worldwide is recycled, and only 10 percent is effectively recycled, according to the new plastic economics report. However, cosmetics have a long service life and low added value, and empty bottles are often mixed with household garbage, which also leads to difficulties in sorting and recycling. There is still a long way to go in recycling plastic products.
"The starting point of promoting colorless transparent packaging and enhancing the recycling of resources is gratifying.""But in the overall environment, the cosmetics packaging market is only a fraction of the total category," says Mr Li. Environmental initiatives, such as those relating to the global environment, need to be promoted by enterprises of the whole society to achieve the desired effect.
