The British Dairy giant Dairy Crest is fully enabled plastic bottle packaging

Dairy Crest, the largest Dairy producer in the UK, has announced plans to move from traditional glass bottles to plastic ones in a bid to better cater to consumers.

After market research conducted by Dairy Crest, consumers are more likely to pack milk in lightweight plastic bottles than in bulky, brittle glass bottles. So the company decided to close its entire dairy glass packaging plant in Hanworth, England, in two years. The move marks the complete abandonment of Dairy Crest's traditional Dairy packaging model.

"While many of the company's 1,400 milkman staff have long been accustomed to traditional glass packaging and believe that glass milk will be more approachable than plastic milk, we have to offer the best packaging for our long-term strategic needs.""Dairy Crest said in a recent statement.

As early as 2012, the esher-based dairy giant began using some lightweight HDPE plastic bottles. The company says it's a trend to replace glass with plastic. Between 1975 and 2012, the glass packaging for Dairy Crest Dairy products fell from 94% to 4%.

Because its own quality is light, and many plastics are produced with renewable raw materials, it can be reused. In recent years, plastic bottles have firmly occupied a large part of the dairy packaging market.

Currently, the three Dairy producers of Crest Chadwell Heath, Foston and Severnside have all adopted plastic bottle packaging, and its Hanworth factory will give up glass bottle packaging completely in two years.
